200 HR YTT VIYASA
This course is designed to allow students the opportunity to delve deeper into their own practices and experience yoga through the eyes of a student and as well as a teacher. Students will learn fundamentally the entirety of what yoga is, while maintaining a focus on asana and its benefits. Emphasis will be placed on teaching, and how to teach, whilst allowing each student to find their own personal yoga voice.
Asana will be taught to facilitate students in deepening and expand their practices but also from the standpoint of functional alignment and movement. Both physical and energetic anatomy will be at the forefront of asana alignment, allowing students to experience all the benefits of a pose. The same techniques will be applied for pranayama and meditation.
Philosophy and history will be an integral part of this training to show the size, scope, and importance of yoga, past the asana. We intend to show the student where asana sits in the grand scheme of a nine thousand year history.
Expectations and Goals
Students will be expected to come to class regularly and participate as fully as possible in the instruction. Students will be expected to finish homework assignments, readings, projects, and complete periodic exams. Students will be expected to participate in the mornings practices, as much as is possible and safe, as well as, to be present and open for lectures and teaching.
The ultimate goal of the course is to bring out the best teacher in each of the students and give them their own unique and important voice. We want our teachers ready to teach upon completion of this program as well as on a more focused path for future studies into the yogic arts.
